Menorah
As one of the most recognizable Judaic symbols and a preeminent fixture in synagogues around the world, the Menorah is also used during Hanukkah to symbolize an important story in Jewish history. According to myth, after the destruction of the Holy Temple in Jerusalem, only enough oil to keep the Menorah lit for one day was recovered. Miraculously, the small amount fueled the Temple Menorah for eight nights.
Menorahs come in all shapes, sizes, styles, and themes, which are designed to hold the nine candles. Traditionally, eight of these candles are used to represent each night the Temple Menorah persevered and one permanently lit candle to ignite the rest. The Menorah is more than just a religious or holiday decoration; it is a testament to the perseverance of Jewish culture across the world and throughout the ages.
